Green Tree Python
(Morelia viridis)
This is probably one of the most, if not the most, suitable animals for a display enclosure.  A lot of snakes are rarely seen because they burrow under the substrate.  However, M. viridis is an arboreal snake.   They will sit coiled on a branch in plain sight if they are given an appropriate cage environment which makes them feel as though they are in the safety of a tree.  They spend the majority of their lives in this fashion.  They eat, rest and mate from this perched position.  The other thing that makes these animals a great addition to any terrarium is their remarkable color and the variations of color that exist in the species.  The babies are either yellow or brick red when they emerge from their eggs and go through a dramatic color change as they grow older.
